Flora Europaea the original Linnean specimen perennial, H-G, 2n=46,87-93, complex polyploidy phenomenon, Robertsonian races? mesic nemoral species usually on rocky substratum Alpine-Carpathian-Balkan Peltarion, Geranio macrorrhizi-Fagetum, Geranietum macrorrhizi, (Cerna Mountains, Iron Gates area),Campanulo abietinae-Juniperetum (Arjana in Cerna Mountains), Tilio-Acerion (Cheile Bicazului, Neamt county) R4115, R3401, R3107-3108 (Arjana in Cerna Mountains), R4117 (Cheile Bicazului, Haghimas Mountains)       A Geranium species with a very well defined and strong Pelargonium  smell; common only in the Banat Mountains, being very rare in the rest of the Carpathians.
